Hinton Partnering with Nonfiction for No Reason!

To celebrate nonfiction writers you love and ones you don’t know yet!

Unlike either visual or musical artists, opportunities for most writers to showcase their work in front of a public audience are few and far between. Writing after all can be a solidarity endeavor with little in the way of immediate gratification for expertly constructed prose or a pithy turn of phrase. Call us biased, but writers' work is often shortchanged in the live performance department.

It’s one of the reasons that showcasing the vast array of talent found in the Pacific Northwest is a core tenant of what we do at Hinton Publishing. Better still, we’re delighted to announce that we’ve partnered with Nonfiction for No Reason (NFNR) for a special summer reading series hosted at Jude’s Old Town, Seattle’s only worker-owned bar and restaurant.

NFNR is a live literary event series that celebrates nonfiction writers both established and up-and-coming and “not for those allergic to earnestness,” according to its founder Katie Lee Ellison, an author and writing teacher.

The special six-part series will commence on July 1st at 7 pm featuring the talent of Jaime Conlan, Jodi-Ann Burey, Maggie Mertens, and Korede Oseni. Subsequent events will run every other Monday (July 15th, July 29th, August 12th, August 26th, and Septemeber 2nd). Come to be inspired, moved to tears, get a premium shot of uplift, and hear some badass prose recited by some of the best writers living and visiting the greater Seattle area.

You can check out more information about the NFNR here.
