Our Favorite Social Media Posts

I (Maggie Block) have been so excited to to have a team of social media interns! Being able to work with other people, get feedback, share the load, and diversify the work that we post online. I asked both our interns to compile and talk about their favorite posts they’ve made!

Ivonne:

This was one of the first graphics I created for the Hinton Publishing Instagram page. It was a chance for me to get a sense of how to be creative while also making sure everything ties together. Although I had experience working with Canva and other programs like Adobe InDesign, this felt like a fun opportunity to bring an author’s words to life!

Ivonne:

By this point, I had already become accustomed to making graphics for Speak the Sojourner stories. This post, in particular, feels like a turning point in my improvement! I really enjoy reading each published work, personally selecting a quote that impacted or stood out to me, and ensuring the post is a good representation of what the author wishes to communicate through their story.

Ivonne:

I remember when I suggested this trend; I thought it would be a silly but fun video to post. I didn’t think it would get much engagement (specifically on our Instagram). Yet, it still fully encapsulates what Hinton Publishing represents as a company. Although I suggested the idea, Maggie filmed and edited this video, which is basically all the work!

Ivonne: I enjoyed writing the script for the "Letting the Gen Z Interns Write the Book Promotion” script. It was a lot of fun incorporating slang terms and hearing Marcus Green and Juan Carlos Reyes interpret them in their own way. I also loved the way Yanet edited it, and I’m grateful to Maggie for filming!

Yanet: This video was a lot of fun for me. Immediately from the conception of the idea for this video, I knew it was going to be a good time - and it was. Coming up with the script with Ivonne was so funny, but nothing could have prepared me for when I got the clips back and got to see Marcus and Juan Carlos acting out the scenes. I truly could not stop laughing the entire time I was editing it. The most rewarding part of working on this video though was experimenting with all the different edits of it that I made, trying to figure out which version with which cuts would maximize the comedic effect. By the end of it, I was really proud of what I came up with, and it was definitely well received on social media. It was really exciting to see everyone finding it just as funny as I did putting it together.

Yanet:

I’ve honestly always wanted to make a holiday gift guide after being inspired by all the ones I’d see creators make on TikTok every year. Brainstorming what gifts would fit for the archetype of each kind of reader with Ivonne and Maggie was another hilarious experience, especially since I had been struggling to see the full vision on my own, but after a few conversations, everything fell into place and I was on a roll. Curating the gift guides and putting the graphics together felt like a little art project in a way, which was very enjoyable for me because I like to consider myself pretty crafty, and these social media projects have felt like doing digital arts and crafts. We’ve got a few days left until Christmas so I definitely recommend checking this post out if you’re in need of any last minute inspiration, and tell us what kind of reader you think you are!
