Still True: A Launch Party Recap!
For those of you who weren’t able to join us at Elliott Bay Book Company to celebrate the launch party of Reagan Jackson’s newest work, Still True: The Evolution of an Unexpected Journalist, and even for those of you who did, let’s take a little look back on that magical night!
To kick off the night, Marcus Harrison Green, our wonderful Publisher, talked a little bit about the story of Hinton Publishing, how we came to be, the story behind the stories, and what it meant to him and to the company to have this book out. Still True is a collection of essays following Reagan’s journey into journalism, and covering a plethora of topics like art, cinema, social justice, and many more. Still True is also Hinton’s very first book to hit the shelves, and it means so much to all of us here to be able to share this wonderful collection with you all and to have had the opportunity to work so closely with Reagan.
After a brief introduction from Marcus, Reagan shared a few excerpts of her book with the audience, giving a sneak peek into the topics she explores in her work. Reagan was joined by Tim Lennon and Jen Soriano and after sharing a few pieces from the book, both Tim and Jen shared sections from the book that they had particularly enjoyed as well. After a discussion about what this book meant to Reagan, friends, family, and other guests were invited to ask her a few questions. Reagan shared tips about how to find community in a space that can feel so uninviting, (Thank you Seattle Freeze!) and gave a sneak peek into what projects were next for her, just to name a few tidbits. Rumor has it we should be keeping an eye out for a possible album release?
Ending the night of a truly successful launch party, surrounded by friends and family, Reagan took to the little table in the back of Elliott Bay’s Reading Room and signed copies of her work, before heading out for the night.
We thank everyone who was able to come out that night for helping us release this project and we hope you continue to follow Reagan’s journey, as well as our own!
